The films the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominates for the prize will be announced on January 24, 2012. The winner will be announced with the other Academy Award winners in Los Angeles on February 26.
Tarr wrote the screenplay for ?The Turin Horse? with his long-time collaborator László Krasznahorkai. Ágnes Hranitzky was co-director and Mihály Víg wrote the soundtrack. Fred Kelemen was cameraman and Gábor Téni the producer. Erika Bók, János Derzsi and Mihály Kormos act in the film.
