Zsolt Németh |
Speaking at a press conference following the half-hour meeting, Zsolt Németh praised the work of Emil Boc and noted the importance of Romania staying on a course of stability based on European norms.
Németh noted that Cluj is already the sister city of Pécs, in Hungary, which was earlier a European Capital of Culture, and could benefit from its experiences.
?We support Cluj?s application as there really is no other European city that is better suited for the title than the multicultural Cluj,? he said.
Boc said Cluj hoped to be an example of ?Europe on a small scale?.
Commenting on a statement by Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean days earlier that the situation of ethnic Romanians in Hungary is worse than that of ethnic Hungarians in Romania, Németh said that the rights of ethnic minorities in both countries should be ensured. Questions in dispute should be solved in dialogue with a respect for each other, he added.
