Awards were presented in four categories, Chairman of the Association of Hungarian Graphic Studios Tamás Futó said.
The Golden Drawing Pin ?life achievement? award went to András Felvidéki, a teacher at the Moholy-Nagy Art University. Felvidéki has illustrated a wide range of books as well as movie posters.
The ?honourable member? award went to György Kara for his book designs, his billboard campaign promoting the use of safety belts and his design for a crest for the city of Budapest.
Ferenc Nádai was presented with the ?cultural? award for his work designing the film monthly Filmvilág.
The ?independent designer? award went to Gábor Ludwig Németh for continuously giving a new look to a paper company?s catalogue for the past 15 years.
A special award was also presented to Mihály Pohárnok, in recognition of his art work ? he created the corporate images for Hungary?s national airline Malév ? as well as for organising Hungary?s annual Design Week.
The Gödör Club is hosting the Golden Drawing Pin Exhibition of graphic art until November 19. Last year?s exhibition attracted more than 10,000 visitors.
To coincide with the awards, Balázs Vargha presented a new book entitled Plakát.hu, which shows a selection of the best 300 Hungarian posters from the past 15 years. The book follows the publication of Embléma.hu in 2004, which offered an overview of the best Hungarian logos of recent years. Selections from Embléma.hu can be seen online at
