Some 1,400 participants from 60 countries across the globe are participating at the book fair, held in Bologna from March 27 to 30.

The fair is the most important international forum for illustrators, and it is the third-biggest book fair in Europe where all major publishers are represented, Bozóki said.

As guest of honour, Hungary will have its own special exhibition at the fair, entitled ?Hungary ? an open book: 30 illustrators 30 books?. The exhibition will explore several generations of illustrators through the work of 30 artists, each of whom is represented by about fifteen illustrations and an ?illustrated book model? made up of some of the selected works.
The packed programme of meetings includes a presentation of the 30 artists by the art historian Ildikó D. Udvary at the Illustrators? Café and a roundtable discussion of Hungarian illustration featuring the participation of important children?s book illustrators and authors.
More than 200 of the best Hungarian children?s publications and animated films will also be on display at Hungary?s stand at the fair. Among them will be the portfolios of 30 young illustrators offering a glimpse at the country?s future talents.
The exhibition is organized by the Society of the Hungarian Illustrators with a HUF 48.5 million grant from the Hungarian Ministry of Culture.
