The film was well-received at a press screening on Thursday, but a screening on Friday before an audience of 2,000 ended with a standing ovation, ?Taxidermia? producer Péter Miskolczi said. Director György Pálfi has been asked to give interviews to several foreign papers during the past two days, Miskolczi added.

?Taxidermia?, which was awarded the main prize at this year?s Hungarian Film Festival, is competing for the Un Certain Regard prize in Cannes. The winning film in the category is awarded a grant to aid its distribution in France.

There are 24 films competing in the category, including several from Central and Eastern Europe, but Friday?s issue of Le Monde called Taxidermia ?the zaniest without a doubt?.

The international distribution rights for ?Taxidermia? have been bought by Fortissimo Films, one of the world?s largest film distributors specialising in European films, which has organised three screenings in Cannes in the coming days to market the film, ensuring runs in foreign countries.
