Industry Giants Combat Illegal File-Sharing

English

The memorandum signers want to reduce significantly the number of peer-to-peer (P2P) software users that share files illegally as well as to change the public's conception of the activity. The signers agreed on the importance of working together to create a solution to the problem as well as to educate the public on the wrongs of illegal file-sharing and to create a warning system that informs ISPs of illegal activity on their networks. They also agree to further develop online content services and increase the number of video on demand clients. Lastly, they decided to invite competition authorities to crack down on illegal file sharing.

The signers also decided on a system for finding proof of illegal file-sharing and the legal steps to take thereafter. The system still requires the approval of competition authorities.
