Instituto Cervantes Expands Library

English

The Ernesto Sábado Library, located at the Instituto Cervantes in Vörösmarty Street, will have a total area of 260 square metres following the expansion. Its collection will expand from 15,000 books, CDs and DVDs to 45,000 when the project is complete. The library will also start a service allowing library users to order materials to borrow from Spain.

The library will get a new reading room, equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment, as part of the expansion. The new reading room will also feature a children's corner.

In addition to the one in Vörösmarty Street, the Instituto Cervantes will set up another library at its building in Paulay Ede Street.

In cooperation with Budapest's Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), the Instituto Cervantes will offer library users access to some 5,000 publications in the Basque, Gallego and Catalan languages.

The Instituto Cervantes enrolled more than 2,000 students in its language learning courses in the 2006-2007 academic year. It also offered a wide range of special courses, from theatre workshops to Hungarian courses for speakers of Spanish.
