The international jury headed by acclaimed Russian stage director Anatoly Vasiliev will select the winners from 19 singers who have made it to the final over the year-long competition, said Agnes Havas.
The audience in Szeged will see five productions performed twice by five opera companies from Europe and the United States.
Three of them have already premiered, which include "Raoul" about Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg in Theater Bremen, "The Crucible", an opera version of Arthur Miller's classic at Dicapo Opera in New York and "The Rape of Lucretia" by Benjamin Britten in the Gdansk's Baltic Opera.
The other two operas will premier soon: Opera de Rennes in France will show the opera version of 19th century German author Heinrich Marschner's "Vampire" on Friday and the Italian libretto "Adriana Adriana Lecouvreur" will open the competition's final in Szeged on Monday.
The awards ceremony for the best production and best male and female singers will take place on November 17.
