The film based on Roald Dahl's children's novel is using the stop motion technique, which was invented by Hungarian emigre animator George Pal between the two world wars. The animation using the sound of George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Bill Murray for its characters will be played in Hungarian cinemas from April 15.
This year's festival is showing 61 entries from 25 countries in four venues.
The special sections include a war theme and the "Year of the Tiger" category, the latter compiling the best of last year's Chinese and Taiwanese productions.
At the festival running until April 18 nine titles are competing for the main prize - the Breaking Waves Award - going with 10,000 euros.
