Papirusz Duola Publ. House, Budapest, 2004

86 p, with 86 illustrations. Age: 4 to 8

Erzsi Gazdag (1912-1987) (Attila József Prize, Kodály Medallion) was discovered by Sándor Weöres and Zoltán Kodály. Her controversial career has been rendered everlasting by her poetry for children.

Shop of Tales is her most well-known anthology. She thrived on playing and singing, a gift received from folk-poetry and nursery rhymes. Perhaps there has never been a children?s poet who has been so absorbed with playing and singing. For many decades, her works have given pleasure to young children and adults alike, her easily memorizable poems being taught in both nursery schools and elementary schools.

The works of the applied graphic artist, Kató K. Lukáts (1900-1990), are characterized by traditions of popular art and the readiness to stylize, coupled with the enchanting joy of storytelling.
