István Szabó To Chair PIFF Jury

English

The festival, slated for October 12?20, will feature more than 60 European films, second only to the number of Asian films at the event. Among the European films will be three Hungarian films: Ágnes Kocsis?s ?Fresh Air?, competing in the Critics? Choice selection, György Pálfi?s ?Taxidermia? in the Midnight Passion selection and Szabolcs Hajdu?s ?White Palms? in the World Cinema selection.

The Oscar-winning Szabó will not only chair the jury, but teach a master class as well. He will also leave his handprint at PIFF Square and the Busan Cinemateque as part of an annual tradition at the festival. Szabó?s handprint will be in good company with those of other famous directors such as Theo Angelopolous and Peter Greenaway.

This year?s PIFF will feature an Asian Film Market for the first time. ?White Palms? will be screened at the market on the recommendation of its European distributor Onoma and European Film Promotion (EFP).

Also for the first time, industry weekly Variety will publish an insert dedicated to the festival, just as it does for festivals in Cannes, Berlin and Toronto.
