Jameson CineFest Shows István Szőts Retrospective

English

The CineClassics programme, which the festival started last year, will open with a screening of the seventy-year-old Szőts classic ?People on the Alps?, said festival communications director Péter Muszatics. A conference organised together with Judit Pintér will explore Szőts?s life and the Miskolc Gallery will host an exhibition of the director and his work, he added.

?The director?s ?Pamphlet on Hungarian Film Art?, which is still a very timely book, will be discussed, and students from the Sapienta university in Cluj-Napoca and the University of Film and Theatre in Budapest, headed by Géza M. Tóth and Orsolya Tóth, will re-shoot a Szőts short to be screened at the closing night of CineFest,? Muszatics said. ?The September issue of the magazine Film World will also explore the timeliness of the pamphlet,? he added.

Almost 550 films have been submitted for this year?s Cinefest.

Twelve Hungarian premieres are on the programme.
