Hungarian directors are also gaining exposure at international film festivals in Valladolid, Spain, and in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
The 51st Valladolid International Film Festival, which takes place on October 20?29, is showing director Ágnes Kocsis?s ?Fresh Air? in competition for the festival?s main prize, the ?Golden Spike?. The film, which has been nominated for the ?European Discovery 2006? award by the European Film Academy, is being presented in Valladolid by Izabella Hegyi, who plays the lead, and producer Ferenc Pusztai. István Madarász's short film ?Sooner or Later? and Ferenc Czakó?s animated film ?Letters? are showing in the short films section of the festival, and Gyula Nemes?s ?My One and Onlies? will be shown in the Meeting Point category. The festival programme also features a classic Hungarian film: Károly Makk?s ?Another Way? from 1982.
The Mar del Plata Independent Film Festival, also held on October 20?29, features two Hungarian entries: Zsigmond Gábor Papp?s documentary ?Life of an Agent? and Csaba Bollók?s feature ?Miraq?. Both films are competing in the ?Crimes and Sins? category.
