"We have come home, and we can watch the country's best performances for children again and again," János Novák, the director of the Kolibri Theatre and the chairman of the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ) Hungarian Centre, said at the opening ceremony. The goal is to enable every Hungarian child to see at least one quality youth performance a year, he added.
In addition to Hungarian troupes, the festival?s guests will include actors from the UK, the Czech Republic, France and Poland.
For the first time, this year?s festival will feature programmes for toddlers and their parents. Several of this year?s performances also enjoy the support of the Justice Ministry?s crime prevention committee, because of the issues they deal with.
Most of the events at the festival will be hosted by the city?s Csiky Gergely Theatre, with some being staged at the Együd Árpád Education Centre. Performances will also take place at two stages in the city centre.
At the end of each day, the acting troupes will host workshops.
