The Quatuor Voce quartet from France, the Arcadia Quartet from Romania and Hungary?s Auer and Rondo quartets are on the festival programme, said Károlyi József Foundation representative Angelica Károlyi. They will play string quartets by Haydn, Enescu and Beethoven, she added.

The festival, which is being held for the second time, aims to raise the profile of the string quartet as a musical form, especially among young people. On the opening day of the festival, the Auer String Quartet will give a concert at the local primary school. The pupils there will also be shown the film ?String Quartets?, made by ProQuartet.

Quatuor Voce will perform on September 30.

The Auer Quartet will play with Gerald Pachinger, the first clarinetist of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, on October 1.

The festival will close with concerts by the Rondo Quartet and the Arcadia Quartet on October 2.

The festival is the effort of cooperation between ProQuartet ? European Chamber Music Centre and the Károlyi József Foundation. It is supported by Budapest?s French Institute and the Romanian Cultural Institute, as well as the Austrian Cultural Forum and the local government of Székesfehérvár.
