The production's U.S. premiere will take place at the International Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven on Wednesday. The troupe will perform the piece four times at the festival, which runs until June 27.
Afterward, the play will be performed five times at the Lincoln Center Festival in New York between July 7 and 11.
The performances, in Hungarian with English supertitles, are part of the Extremely Hungary Hungarian cultural season in New York and Washington.
Hungary's Béla Pintér and Company will put on their production of The Beggar's Opera at the Lincoln Center Festival between July 21 and 26. Pintér has placed the piece in the Hungarian countryside to create a uproarious musical soap opera with an original score performed by composer Benedek Darvas.
