The Katona József troupe is travelling to Sydney for the first time, though it brought its production of The Government Inspector to Perth and Adelaide in 1992.
The theatre is Hungary's most travelled: the trip to Australia will mark the troupe's 150th foreign tour. The first brought the troupe to Prague, in 1985.
