Kodály Youth Orchestra to Move to Debrecen

English

The local council of Kecskemét stopped funding for the three-year-old orchestra with members from 30 countries, but the city of Debrecen and its university stepped in to offer the ensemble a new home.

Mihály Duffek, dean of the University of Debrecen's music department, said the Zoltán Kodály World Youth Orchestra's first concert in its new home would be the finale of the 9th International Young Musicians' Summer Academy. The summer music camp, slated for July 21-30, will involve all of the orchestra's members as well as guest instructors from Scotland, Japan, France, Croatia and Austria.
