The concert, which featured works by Liszt, Bartók and Brahms, followed performances of Liszt works by the pianist Wu Yigang on October 22 and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the Hungarian Tamás Vásáry on October 30.
The audience at the concert on Thursday demanded ? and got ? three encores, in a country where a single encore is uncommon.
The orchestra played on the invitation of the recently appointed director of the China Shanghai International Arts Festival. The concert was supported by Hungary?s Foreign Ministry.
