About 85 percent of the survey?s respondents agreed and 70pc strongly agreed that the Pécs2010 programme had had a positive effect on the cultural as well as economic life of the city, said László Kákai, of the Pécs University?s Political Science Department.
The survey, conducted by the department?s Poles Society Association in June, involved about 500 of the city?s residents aged 18 to 40.
About 52 percent of the respondents said the major investments of the Pécs2010 programme were more or less as they imagined. About 36 percent said the projects were only in small part as they had expected.
About 44 percent said the local council had handled questions related to the Pécs2010 programme with a high degree of independence. About the same number said the city had little room to move in terms of financing.
Another survey on the topic of the Pécs2010 programme will be carried out in two years to gauge any change in opinions, Kákai said.
