Lukács, who will sing the title role in Turandot, has performed the lead in Tosca, another Puccini opera, at both the Deutsche Oper, in 1994 (when she was the opera's youngest ever Tosca) and at the New York Metropolitan Opera in 2002.

Rost, who has also made an extraordinary reputation for herself singing roles such as Mimi in Puccini's La boh?me, will sing the role of Li?.
The male leads will be the American Frank Porretta and the Bulgarian Dejan Vatchkov.
