Made in Hungaria, which tells the story of Miklós Fenyő and his popular Hungarian 60s rock 'n roll band Hungária, will compete with English, Spanish, Swedish and Czech films in the section.
"[The film's] most important characteristic is that it is an 'old chestnut': a simple and straight-forward story, with excellent music and a timeless message," said Fonyó.
Made in Hungária was shown at the Marché du Film in Cannes, with the support of the Hungarian Film Union and Hungaricom.
Another Hungarian film, I am Not Your Friend by director György Pálfi, will compete for the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
