Institute director János Tischler said that While Travelling (W podrózy) contained writing that had never been published in a single volume in Hungarian.
The book was published by Zeszyty Literackie (ZL) on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.
The actor Adam Bauman read from the book at the launch, and translator Teresa Worowska and ZL Travel Series editor Marek Zaganczyk spoke about Márai?s life and his place in literature.
Zaganczyk said Márai had always taken travel very seriously and was not just a reporter, but attuned to his artistic sense his writing about places and the time during which they are visited.
Worowska said Márai?s travel writing was not so much about external descriptions but about ?what happens when somebody undertakes a journey?.
The volume contains writing published between 1921 and the early 1940s.
