The location of the remains and their surroundings, as well as anthropologists' views all suggest the remains discovered in 1991 are those of Janus Pannonius, the former bishop of Pécs, according to archaeologist Gábor Kárpáti.

The re-interment is slated to take place on November 18. A plan for the ceremony is to be drawn up by the end of May.
