Ministry Calls Renaissance Year Tenders

Minister of Education and Culture István Hiller announced on January 22 - the Day of Hungarian Culture - that the budget for the Renaissance Year would contribute to the expanding funds available for public art.
 
The ministry invited tenders worth HUF 320 million under the Közkincs (Public Treasure) programme, which aims to nurture public values and offer Hungarians in disadvantaged regions equal cultural opportunities.
 
The Tengertánc (Corn Dance) programme will make HUF 210 million available for supporting folk art and creating cultural programmes for children and youth.
 
Some HUF 200 million is available under the PANKKK programme, which supports contemporary pop music.
 
The ministry is making available HUF 220 million as part of the Hungarian Digital Image Library programme, which aims to preserve Hungary history in images and make them accessible to the broadest public possible.
 
As part of the Renaissance Year programme, applicants may try for HUF 100 million in funding for public art programmes in cities, especially in smaller towns in Hungary's disadvantaged regions.
HUF 110 million is available for the renovation of old farm houses open to the public.
 
The ministry called tenders worth HUF 100 million to digitalise and organise church records, as well as restore museum and church artifacts.
