The grants were offered for music, theatre and literary programmes as well as for conferences and for publications.

About HUF 120 million of the grant money was offered for renovations of buildings of literary importance and for setting up new community centre venues.

A tender to create a graphic novel about the life of King Matthias, Hungary's "Renaissance King", drew nearly 50 submissions, and another to write a short story entitled My King Matthias attracted almost 200.

Another tender offered money to young musicians and cultural managers for study abroad.

HUF 60 million was offered under a tender called Renaissance in the Mirror of Contemporary Theatre. About one-third of 73 submissions were awarded part of the grant money.

More than a hundred applications were submitted for a combined HUF 100 million available for aesthetic renovations in cities. The grant money will support projects in 85 cities.

A HUF 30 million tender for contemporary public art was won by the cities of Debrecen, Dunaújváros, Eger, Győr, Miskolc, Pécs, Szeged and Szombathely.

About half of the 118 applications for HUF 57 million in grant money to support publications that present new research into the era of King Matthias were awarded funding.

The ministry called a tender for HUF 200 million in grant money to support the organisation of Renaissance tours.
