In spite of cool and stormy weather, this year's Night of Museums, on June 20, drew more than 380,000 people, up from 379,000 in 2008 and just a few thousand when the event was launched in 2003.
About 72 percent of visitors to the Museum of Applied Arts, the Ludwig Museum, the Millenáris, the Hungarian Agriculture Museum, the National Gallery, the National Museum, the Museum of Ethnography, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Natural History and the House of Terror on the special evening were residents of the capital, while the rest came from other cities and towns. More than half of museum-goers used public transportation during the evening.

The visitors were between the ages of 8 and 80, and about half of them were between the ages of 14 and 28. Visitors were drawn by the chance to go to several museums with a single ticket as well as the programmes on offer. Most visitors saw 3-4 museums during the evening, more than they would otherwise during the entire year.
About 160 museums all around the country organised more than 900 programmes for the Autumn Museums Festival which took place between September 28 and November 15. The festival, organised for the fourth year in a row, drew more than 131,000 visitors.
The Autumn Night of Museums, on November 14, involved the participation of 31 museums in Budapest and 49 in other cities and towns.
