The Cezanne show is planned to open in October 2012 and it will present works by the French artist in a new light, Laszlo Baan said.

Baan said the museum will be closed for revamp for five months starting in January 2011. It will reopen with an exhibition showing new acquisitions, including graphic works by the likes of Gunther Uecker and Antoni Tapies donated by a Swiss foundation, he added.

Before the revamp, the Museum of Fine Arts will present a show on the beginnings of Art Nouveau in Vienna, including five paintings by Klimt. The Colombian artist Fernando Botero will personally attend the opening of his retrospective exhibition in the autumn of 2010 and a selection of photographs by Lucien Herve, a French artist of Hungarian descent, will also be shown before the museum closes, said Baan.
