Miklós Radnóti |
The Radnóti primary school and gymnasium guards the memory of the poet not only in name but in spirit too, placing an emphasis on the joyful Radnóti, as this is a side people tend to forget, said school principal Péter Tomcsányi.
The school plans many events in the double anniversary year. On March 27, former students of the school - among them the writer Pál Békés, the poet Ákos Szilágyi, the singer Márta Sebestyén, the actors Kata Huszárik and György Dörner, and the musician Zorán Sztevanovity - will reunite as part of a programme dubbed Art-Studio.
The Petőfi Literature Museum will open an exhibition on the poet which is sure to be of interest to literary experts and students of the poet as well as to the casual reader, said exhibition curator Katalin Varga.
The museum will partner with other institutions to put on the anniversary programme, said director Csilla E.Csorba. Readings and talks will take place on Radnóti's birthday, and Radnóti's works will be turned into monodramas on another evening.
Starting in May, a series of literary walks that highlight Radnóti's Budapest will take place.
