One of the shows is called Construction, a theme ?chosen to accentuate a particular intrinsic quality, where it is not possible to separate the technique used from the underlying idea or meaning?, according to curator Edith Lundebrekke.

?I have selected artists who approach construction in different ways, mainly in relation to wood and textiles. One thing they have in common is that they have developed their own, individual methods of construction to establish the formal, structural and organisational fundament for their particular visual expressions. Another common feature is that the visual, aesthetic and physical presence of their works gives these pieces a voice. The exhibition features a variety of works, ranging from formal to conceptual expressions, some with strong traditional roots and others that are more experimental, but all with a basis in the traditions of arts and crafts,? she says of the show.

The other exhibition is called Paradigm and shows the work of 18 Norwegian artists.

?The title Paradigm calls attention to a central value in studio craft, whereby the artist, through his exploration of techniques, materials, content and meaning, plays a part in the further development of the entire field. This work takes place in the artist?s studio, and/or in the artist?s dialogue with her artistic community, but usually out of public sight. By means of a selection of works, Paradigm investigates the result of this conscious ?abstraction? by the artist, where the genesis of the work remains inaccessible to the public, as opposed, for example, to the relational work, which comes into being in the encounter with or in association with a public,? curator Lars Sture said in an interview with NorwegianCrafts.no.
