English

Kepenyes's jewellery can be seen in films, such as Conan the Barbarian, and he has made several sculptures on public commission in Mexico.

Kepenyes was born in Kondoros, a town in Békés County, of which Békéscsaba is the county seat. He studied at the Academy of Applied Arts and later the Fine Arts Academy, where he learnt from Béni Ferenczy. He was removed from the academy as an "undesirable" under the communist regime. In 1950, he was imprisoned for ten years on false charges. He was freed during the time of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and took up arms against the Soviet forces. Kepenyes left the country on November 21, 1956, moving first to Paris, where he studied fine arts, then to Mexico, where he lives today.
