?We will endeavour to uncover decades of folklore studies with the cataloguing of tens of thousands of notes and documents from the collection of this ethnologist famous all over Europe,? said museum specialist Magdolna N. Szabó.

Szeged?s Somogyi Library will assist in the effort to catalogue the documents, said Szabó. Negotiations with the library?s staff are underway, she said.

Bálint?s legacy will be catalogued, restored, digitalised and published between 2007 and 2009, said Viga.

The National Cultural Fund has paid out some HUF 390 million in monies available to museums this year to 300 applicants. Still, the fund has been able to offer assistance to just one-third of applicants.

Next year, the National Cultural Fund will make more than HUF 500 million available to museums for a broad range of activities.

Some HUF 5.7 billion will be available in 16 different areas from the National Cultural Fund next year, Viga said.
