National Philharmonic Plays Beethoven Non-Stop

English

The concert, dubbed "Beethoven NonStop", will start at 3:00pm and continue, with two intermissions, until all nine symphonies have been performed.

The concert is among the highlights of a "building send-off" festival for the Liszt Music Academy between November 3 and 9.

"My goal with the series was not a show off performance or a demonstration of strength, rather I want to present the composer's development of style with these works which are a decisive part of his entire oeuvre," said National Philharmonic Orchestra conductor Zoltán Kocsis. "The symphonies document the "unbelievably multi-layered, richly shaded" world of Beethoven, he added.

The National Philharmonic Orchestra recently agreed to establish a closer cooperation with the Liszt Music Academy and show its students the daily workings of a world-class orchestra, even involving them in rehearsals. The orchestra will also invite some of the most talented students to perform in concert.
