The festival organisers will show 94 shorts in the competition, picked from 527 submissions from 53 countries. For the first time, Hungary submitted the most entries, 69.
The selection jury comprised assistant director István Mag, writer László Rimóczi, animator Tamás Patrovits and director Zoltán Gergely.
The Hungarian director Csaba Bollók will open the festival at a ceremony on Tuesday. The winners will be announced on Saturday evening by a jury including director Ildikó Enyedi; professor at the VSMU academy of Bratislava Zuzana Gindl-Tatarova; American film critic Michael Nicholas; writer,
producer and representative of the British Cornwall Festival Denzil Monk; and permanent member of the jury, the German-Hungarian Wolfgang Leis.
The best short film will receive the Golden BuSho award, which carries a purse of EUR 1,000, financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary.
Additional screenings of shorts will take place in Szeged, Szolnok and Szombathely, as well as - for the first time - the Serbian city of Kanjiza.
