New Cultural Centre Opens in Budapest

The centre, located at Lenkei Street 17-19, in Budapest?s District XVIII, will function as a number of things, including:

- A rehearsal space for Hungarian and international troupes, complete with all of the necessary technical equipment.

- A workshop for young artists, dancers, theatre troupes, musicians, photographers and video artists, working independently as well as side by side.

- A place of residence for Hungarian and international artists and troupes of performers.

- A production centre which assists in the distribution of works of art.

- A theatre and exhibition space that hosts temporary exhibitions several times a year, presents the works of resident artist as well as independent artists and performance troupes.

- A rehabilitation and employment centre that helps theatre troupes, rehabilitation professionals and dance therapy groups that work with people with disabilities.

- A training centre with foreign guest teachers.

- A media library containing performances of mostly contemporary theatre and dance.

- A health centre, where body and soul are treated as one, staffed by dieticians, psychologists, physical therapists, dancers, masseurs, doctors and fitness trainers.

- An event and festival centre, where art festivals are held several times a year, featuring international guest performers.

The SÍN Cultural Centre will celebrate its opening between November 30 and December 2, 2006.

PROGRAMME TO START AT 21:00

The closing day of the festival will include a special programme. The evening will be a long PARTY interspersed with spontaneous and rehearsed dance PERFORMANCES. DJs will provide music for the dancers.

Getting there:

With public transport: Travel 7 stops on tram number 80 from Határ út until the Lajosmizse stop. The journey takes about 8 minutes.

By car: Drive along Üllői út, cross the railway lines and turn left at the first corner into Lenkei utca.
