Renner, who was appointed to the top post at the museum effective December 1, aims to present contemporary industrial art and design at the museum in addition to showing its rich collection of historical artefacts. Renner also plans to show parts of the museum's collection in other museums around the city, such as in the Ferenc Hopp Museum of East Asian Art, where she was formerly director, and the Castle Museum of Nagytétény on the outskirts of Budapest.
"I want the Museum of Applied Arts to catch up with the best-run museums," she said, adding that that building up a group of sponsors would be an important condition for the future of the museum.
