Lara and Guerrero, who work together at the same time to create their pieces, are showing in Hungary for the first time at an exhibition entitled World Passport. The exhibition aims to start intercultural dialogues, as "we all share the same home," Lara said at the opening of the show.
What makes the show especially interesting are the photographs of "alter-egos" Lara and Guerrero present next to the canvases. The couple is shown dressed in the traditional clothing of a country or demonstrating through gestures some national stereotype associated with Spain, France, Brazil, Egypt, America or even Hungary. The alter-egos, with names such as Tim Rat, from the United States, and Lara Donezeu from France, are listed as the creators of the paintings, which carry the national identity theme a step further: Tim Rat's painting shows a sparkling clean world painted with graffiti-like simplicity, and Lara Donezeu's painting looks, well, French.
The exhibition runs until December 6.
