At the two-day event starting on Sunday the directors of the Warsaw, Bratislava, Budapest, Kosice and Prague opera houses will exchange experiences on their operation including state financing, said Lajos Vass. They will also explore prospects of cooperation in the exchange of experts, stage-setting building and costume making, Vass said. Participants will also discuss alternative ways of funding, he added.
The event, to be attended by the director of the Vienna State Opera, will prepare the next congress of the Opera Europe organisation of professional opera companies and opera festivals set to be held in Budapest in October. The Brussels-based Opera Europe serves 110 member companies from 33 different countries.
