Organiser expects Budapest festival to be in the black

The Sziget Festival will be held on Obudai Island in northern Budapest and it will run between August 12 and 16. "Advance ticket sales show a slight increase from last year but it will all depend on day-ticket holders," Karoly Gerendai said.

If the number of visitors reaches last year's 385,000, the event will be profitable but a new scheme involving half-price tickets available after 11pm is yet to be tested, Gerendai said.

The organisers have received many telephone calls concerning the A/H1N1 virus, Gerendai said. The callers inquired about ways to refund tickets due to worries about the possibility of infection, he added. Gerendai said that there was no reason for concern as there is no epidemic in Hungary.

Still, the organisers have prepared stricter sanitary regulations on the festival grounds; there will be more toilets and showers and people working at the festival will be required to attend special health and safety training.
