The month-long course is the only one in Hungary where local students study together with scholars from abroad, Bata said.
The programme has a double aim: to teach foreigners about Hungarian language, history and culture, as well as to train local students to teach these subjects in the future, she added.
The 10th summer university on Hungarology has attracted students from diverse locations, with the highest number coming from Germany and Japan while others are attending from as far away as Mexico and the Ivory Coast.
Some are of Hungarian descent who wish to develop their language skills while others are preparing for a period to live in Hungary on Erasmus scholarships.
The programme includes an intensive Hungarian language course and English-language lectures on Hungarian history and culture.
