The self-published book includes reproductions on 80 pages. They include pictures from Schéner's most recent series of church paintings as well as from his earlier series of shoes and landscapes, said gallery owner Anna Körmendi.

The gallery will show many of the works featured in the book in an exhibition open until January 23.
Schéner's first solo exhibition was at Budapest's Csók Gallery in 1962. His works have also been shown at London's Grosvenor Gallery, as well as at venues in Paris, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Vienna.

For many years Schéner designed stage sets, puppets and costumes for the Jókai Theatre in Békéscsaba, in southeast Hungary. In 1988, he established a toy museum in the city.

His artistic style was initially influenced by impressionism, then later by expressionism and surrealism.

Schéner is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts as well as the Széchenyi Academy of Literature and Arts. He is a recipient of the Munkácsy Prize and the Mihály Táncsics lifetime achievement award. In 1995, he was presented with the Kossuth Prize, Hungary's highest award for artists.
