The series, which the Palace of Arts is organising for the third time, will take place on dates throughout the year. At each of the concerts, a work by a contemporary Hungarian composer will be highlighted.
Five of the series' concerts will take place in January. The Miskolc Symphony Orchestra will play on the 16th, the MR Symphony on the 24th, the Zugló Phiharmonic Saint Stephen The King Symphony Orchestra on the 26th, the Budapest Philharmonic Society Orchestra on the 28th and the Magyar Telekom Symphony Orchestra on the 29th. In February, three more concerts will be on the programme, with performances by the Óbuda Danubia Orchestra on the 3rd, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra on the 11th and the MÁV Symphony Orchestra on the 14th. Five concerts will again take place in April, as the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra performs on the 2nd, the Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra on the 10th, the Debrecen Symphony Orchestra on the 21st, the Győr Symphony Orchestra on the 26th and the Duna Symphony Orchestra on the 27th. In May, the Budapest String Ensemble will perform on the 3rd, the Szeged Symphony Orchestra on the 6th and the National Philharmonic on the 22nd. The Pannon Philharmonic from Pécs will perform on September 21.
The performances all start at 7:30pm, with the exception of those by the Győr Philharmonic and the Duna Symphony, which will start at 6:00pm.
From January to March 2005, before its official opening, the Palace of Arts underwent a testing phase during which Hungarian orchestras performed almost daily, offering not only a sense of the hall's capabilities but also presenting a fascinating picture of Hungary's orchestral life. The positive experiences gathered during this "spontaneous" festival spawned the concept of turning it into a permanent feature of the Palace of Arts' concert series and it has now become an established new tradition.
