Mari Boine

Mari Boine, who has brought jazz and rock to the voiks of her native people, played to an enthusiastic crowd at last year's Sziget Festival.

She gained international attention in 1989 with her album Gula Gula, put out on Peter Gabriel's Real World label. She has released seven excellent albums since, including one in collaboration with Jan Garbarek in 2002.

Tinariwen first found an international audience after a performance at Le Festival au Désert, a music festival held in a remote region of the Sahara Desert in 2001.

"When I first heard them, I felt this was the music I had been looking for all my life," said Robert Plant of the band after hearing them at the festival.
