The project to issue new recordings of the works of Hungary's iconic 20th century composer was launched in 2006 with a budget of 180 million forints (641,700 euros) provided by the National Cultural Fund, and the 31 disc series recorded in super audio has proved a hit.
Many of the recordings feature pianist and conductor Zoltan Kocsis and the National Philharmonic Orchestra, and several pieces from the cycle, including Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste, have been highlighted in the September issue of the BBC Music Magazine, Mate Hollos said.
