The city has set the maximum overshoot of the original HUF 7.2bn budgeted to build the centre at HUF 380 million, mayor Zsolt Páva said. Exactly how much must be transferred and when, as well as when the inauguration will take place, will depend on talks between the city and the consortium building the centre, he added.
Talks between the two sides will start this week.
Answering a question, Páva said he did not yet know where the extra money would come from, but he trusted in the government and Ministry of Education and Culture. A review will be started to determine responsibility for the overshoot, he added.
The consortium building the centre said last summer already that changes to the original plans for the building's foundation would add another HUF 460 million to the cost of the project and push back the inauguration date by 136 days.
The centre was originally to have been inaugurated on September 30, 2010. The 11,000-square-metre building will be the region's biggest multi-functional concert hall, with a capacity to seat a thousand people. It will be home to the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra.
