Pécs Hosts Choir Festival

English

The city will be the home to concerts from afternoon until late in the evening during the celebration of choral music. Performances will take place every day in front of the Memi Pahsa Baths, on Jókai Square or on Theatre Square as part of the ?Concerts at Five? series. From 7:30 in the evening, performances by ensembles including the Pannon Philharmonic, the Railway Workers Wind Orchestra, FM3.0 Jazz, UniCum Laude, Zengő and No More Blues will take place in front of the city?s main church. A dance house will follow at 9:00.

The highlight of the programme will be a performance of Kodály?s Psalmus Hungaricus by eight of the choirs participating at the festival. A performance of works for children?s choir, called Angel Voices, will take place on the afternoon of the following day.

Also on the 21st, audiences can hear the premiere of a cantata for men?s chorus inspired by the poems of Janus Pannonius penned by the Erkel and Kossuth Prize-winning composer János Vajda.
