Pécs Hosts International Light Symposium

English

Artists and scientists from twelve countries are participating at the conference, which is organised by the Kepes Society.

On the conference programme are some 30 talks on the links between science and the arts as well as the latest developments in light art.

Deputy chair of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Norbert Kroó told conference participants at the opening of the symposium that science and art rely on each other.

?Inventions repeatedly create new opportunities for the arts; changes in science and technology encourage artists to learn about science,? Kroó said.

The International Light Symposium is organised to honour the Hungarian-born photographer and light artist György Kepes, who set up a research institute in Cambridge, USA, where artists and scientists work together on projects.
