Pécs Orchestra to Play in Essen
The Pécs ensemble marked its 50th anniversary two years earlier and invited Essen's city orchestra to join in the celebration at the Pécs National Theatre. The invitation became part of an ongoing cultural cooperation between the two cities which will both share the European Capital of Culture title in 2010.
The Pécs Ore Miners Woodwinds Orchestra of Pécs will play a concert in Essen on August 20. On the following evening, they will perform in Gelsenkirchen. The orchestra will also perform at a benefit to mark the 90th anniversary of the German charity AWO in Dortmund.
The orchestra will close the summer season after returning home with a concert on Pécs's Theatre Square on August 30.
