There are about 120 run-down buildings in need of renovation in the city, including 30 or 40 that need immediate attention either because of their condition or their central location. The building's owners will be instructed to take action in letters. If they fail to fix up their properties, the city will resort to more forceful measures.
A special HUF 30 million fund will be set up to help the property owners pay for the renovations, though the cost of all of the projects is thought to reach HUF 100 million, Papp said.
