Pécs to Host Spring Festival from Mid-March

Classical music fans will enjoy a Schumann evening as well as a concert of music from the 16th and 17th centuries by the UniCum Laude Chorus and the Sonatores Pannoniae Brass Ensemble. The King's Singers will perform a concert entitled Pater noster on March 27.
 
As Part of the World Stars in Pécs programme, Leopold Hager, head conductor of the Vienna Volksoper, will take the baton at a concert of the Pannon Philharmonic.

, the organist of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, will perform, and a pair of Polish musicians will play a two-piano Chopin concert to mark the Chopin year.
 
On the jazz, folk and world music programme are the Hungarian bands Szakcsi Generation and the Veronika Harcsa Quartet, as well as the American jazz organist Rhoda Scott and the bass guitarist Richard Bona, born in Cameroon.
 
Andrea Rost, one of Hungary's best known opera singers, will bring folk songs to Pécs on April 7. On April 9, the folk group Ghymes will play material from their album Álombálom.
 
The Mescek Dance Ensemble, which is celebrating its 55th birthday this year, will perform twice.
